Hydrotherapy Pool
Swimming is a fantastic form exercise and can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, elbow/hip dysplasia and cruciate disease. Our hydrotherapy sessions utilise the therapeutic benefits of water, alongside the skills of our trained hydrotherapists providing a fully non-weight-bearing exercise that can be adapted to suit both rehabilitation and fitness goals.
It is incredibly versatile and offers many benefits such as achieving larger range of movement compared to land based exercise and improving flexibility due to being able to swim in multiple directions. It is particularly useful for dogs with multi-joint arthritis due to the relief, comfort and relaxing effects of the warm water and buoyancy.

Water Treadmill
The water treadmill offers many benefits centred around improving movement quality, gait patterns and maximising range of movement. This is achieved through carefully selected water height, speed and duration, combined with hands on support by our therapists. It is also good for hands on assessment, checking how joints and muscle groups feel when walking and at rest. It is particularly useful for post surgical patients allowing for supported and controlled weight baring, and is often our first choice for neurological rehabilitation.

Massage Therapy
Massage therapy uses gentle, targeted techniques to ease muscular tension, improve comfort and address compensatory movement patterns and their effects on soft tissues. Identifying these changes early can help prevent muscle imbalances and can form part of a proactive management approach, leading to life long improvements in function, capability and quality of life.
Massage and hydrotherapy can complement each other extremely well, which is why we will often combine elements of massage within a rehabilitation session where appropriate. Some dogs may also benefit from a dedicated massage session before beginning hydrotherapy, or when a particular area of tension, restriction or discomfort has been identified.

Acupuncture
Veterinary acupuncture has many uses including supporting patients with acute or chronic pain and those with orthopaedic and neurological conditions. It uses carefully placed needles to help influence pain pathways, reduce muscular tension and support comfort and function in dogs.
It has been found to have significant pain relieving/reducing effects from those experiencing inflammatory, neuropathic (nerve), cancer, or visceral pain states.
As with any therapy or intervention, pain, particularly chronic pain, is best managed as part of a multimodal approach. This may combine veterinary care, including medication, intra-articular treatments and surgery, with complementary therapies and, just as importantly, guardian-led interventions such as home, lifestyle and exercise management.

Laser Therapy
Laser therapy uses therapeutic wavelengths of light to help reduce pain and inflammation, while supporting tissue healing and recovery. It can be particularly useful for dogs with chronic or acute conditions, soft tissue injuries and supports post-operative healing.
Treatment is gentle, non-invasive and many dogs find the sessions calm and relaxing. Laser can be used on its own, or alongside other rehabilitation modalities, depending on what your dog needs.

Gait & Muscle Balance Assessment
Gait, posture and muscle balancing assessments look closely at how your dog moves, transitions and stands, helping us to identify areas of weakness, asymmetry and altered movement and compensation. These changes can develop for lots of reasons, including pain, injury, instability, surgery, or simply because they have been protecting one area of their body for some time.
We regularly assess all of our rehabilitation patients to monitor for changes and use these assessments to help guide our targeted rehabilitation goals.
